"Whether you're penning a family history, writing your memoirs or crafting a novel or short story, this workshop will help you draw on your own life for inspiration and creativity," said Mary Shortridge, president of KYOWA Writers.
Among the presenters are novelists Jennifer Johnson and Cammie Eicher, local genealogist Helen Hunt, Dr. James Gifford of the Jesse Stuart Foundation and other experienced writers and historians.
Topics to be discussed include how to use life experiences and family history in writing, preparing a manuscript for publication and how to choose a publisher or ways to self-publish your work.
The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. The cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Pre-registration is not required but requested by e-mailing mizcathie @ yahoo.com.
I copied the above from a press release. If you are in the area of Russell, Kentucky, I'm sure this workshop will be worth the drive! The Progeny will be visiting us this weekend, so I'll be hanging out with him/driving him crazy/making him wonder why he came home for the weekend. Those important Mom things--you know.
Therefore, no writing workshop for me. But if you go, I'd love to hear a report!
