3 Options and a Columnist Cat

Last week my writing schedule changed dramatically. Instead of having several stories to write and polish this summer, I have a slew of stories to write and polish this summer.

My options are:
1. Cut back on expectations,
2. Clone myself, or
3. Make more time.

Number 1 is no fun at all, number 2 is so scary I may have nightmares. So I'm going with number 3.

In fact, I'll be borrowing time wherever I can find it.

Therefore, after today the blog is on hiatus.

"This makes me sad!" you say. "How will we keep in touch?

Here's how. Please click here or on the Newsletter tab  above to subscribe to my newsletter.

I email an issue no more frequently than once a month. Attila is jazzed about his upcoming columns. Yes, my cat has a column in my newsletter, and yes, I realize that's non-traditional. But you see, Attila and I are partners in this venture. He likes pricey cat litter, and fresh spinach year-round, so he wants my writing career to be successful.

Attila and I strive to make each issue fun and worthwhile for readers. Newsletters are not available online anywhere except by subscription. I don't post them on social media, etc.

We're planning something new for the next issue. Please do subscribe so we can share it with you!

6 Short Paragraphs

Book news

It's finally RELEASE DAY for Ladies of Legend:
Return to Legend Boxed Set
Remember: the 99 cent price ends this week!

Crossroads by Janet Eaves
Heart to Heart by Jan Scarbrough
Second Chances by Magdalena Scott
Star-Crossed by Maddie James

What I'm writing
I sent two short stories to beta readers last week, and am buckling down to the rewrite of Alice and Robert's story--The Blank Book. This will be the next story in my Serendipity series.

What I'm reading
Honor, by Lyn Cote. Confession: It was love at first sight when I saw the cover. Just glorious. And--oh my goodness--what a compelling story! It's set in pre-Civil War time, and the heroine, Honor Penworthy, is Quaker. Click on the title to go to the Amazon page and see the cover/read the blurb. You know you want to.

What I'm watching
Murder, She Wrote - the complete series. The DVD set was a huge splurge a few months ago. I'm watching them slowly, and savoring. When the series originally aired, I thought Angela Lansbury was old, but I bet she was about my age - spring chicken!

Exercise Much?
Yep, walking nearly every day, and back to doing yoga some days too. Yoga is a challenge because Attila hogs the mat.

Minute for minimalism
Joshua Becker's 21 Surprising Statistics that Reveal How Much Stuff We Actually Own. Some of these are staggering--and not in a pleasant way.

What would happen if each of us always tried to make the world a better place in whatever way we can? There's a challenge!

Have a great week!

6 quick highlights from the past week

Health Much?
Today's weather was perfect for a long walk, and it's such a treat to be able to walk several days a week. I'm thankful that herbal remedies are keeping my allergies in check this year.

Mother's Day
You may know I have a bit of a checkered past with Mother's Day. To state it briefly, I am the third generation mom who has tried to defuse some of the consumerism that is Mother's Day. What a lovely surprise when the day turned out to be completely different than I expected, but also completely wonderful! I love my kids who understand me so well. (Not an easy feat, I assure you.)

Work in Progress
Monday I finished the first draft of Christmas Wedding, which will be released this fall as part of the Serendipity, Indiana series. That will be off to beta readers soon, but the main editing has to wait until late summer when my editor will be deluged with three Serendipity stories. And yeah, I'll be working on the next one as soon as the beta reader email goes out with Christmas Wedding.

What I'm Reading
Chestnut Street, a delightful collection of short stories by Maeve Binchy. You know what this makes me want to do? Travel to Ireland (actually have always wanted to do that), and write a short story collection (wonder if readers would be interested).

What I'm Watching
The first season of I Dream of Jeannie on DVD, a couple of episodes a week. What fun!

Minimalist Lifestyle
I recently read this article on Becoming Minimalist: 8 Reasons Successful People Are Choosing to Wear the Same Thing Every Day. I've lived both sides of this and maybe you have too. What worked best for me at the most recent day job was black dress pants and a twin set. (I had several colors of the same twin set from LL Bean.) My uniform these days? Boot-cut jeans and a v-neck T-shirt. Comfort is queen!

I hope you're having a wonderful week!
